Giant Tiger West, a division of The North West Company has raised $90,000 for sick children across Western Canada
Since 2005, Giant Tiger West, has raised $90,000 for Children’s hospitals across the Canadian Prairie Provinces. The funds raised are donated to support programs and equipment that will enhance patient care at the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation in Alberta, the Children's Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan and the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
During February and April, Giant Tiger Stores in Western Canada sold $2 paper bear icons in their stores to support these Children Hospital foundations.
“We are thrilled with the amazing generosity of our customers,” said Scott McKay, Vice President and General Manager of Giant Tiger West. “Our stores provided the opportunity for our customers to donate to these critical foundations and wow, did they ever step up to support sick children’s hospitals across western Canada!”
During Astral Media's National Day of Caring for Kids Radiothon on Thursday, May 5, Scott McKay and Christine Reimer, Director of Stores, presented a cheque for $14,357 to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
“Over the years, management and staff of Giant Tiger have proven their dedication to the children of Manitoba by supporting our Foundation,” said Lesia Sianchuk, Executive Director, Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We are extremely grateful to the Giant Tiger family for this donation that will support programs and equipment that will enhance patient care at Children’s Hospital.”
To continue the 2011 fundraising efforts, the Manitoba Giant Tiger stores are currently selling Wear Your Bear T-shirts in support of Wear Your Bear
Day on May 28th. All proceeds from the sale of these t-shirts will go directly to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
