Iqaluit raises over $4400 for Tim Hortons Camp Day!
The NorthMart Tim Hortons team in Iqaluit raised $4400 through coffee sales and donations during the inaugural Tim Hortons Camp Day in Iqaluit on June 1, 2011. The Tim Hortons locations in the stores were busy throughout the day. Special VIPs included Mayor Madeleine Redfern and George Eckalook, Vice President - Qikiqtani Inuit Association who were celebrity coffee pourers, Nick Javor, Senior VP of Corporate Affairs for Tim Hortons and, of course, all the NorthMart staff. As well, NorthMart staff hosted a community BBQ in sunny -2C weather, raising $600.
Across Canada, a total of $9.9 million dollars was raised. The funds raised on Camp Day will send more than 14,000 deserving children to one of six Tim Horton Children’s Foundation camps this year – all expenses paid. Each camp offers a wide range of first-class programs and activities that encourage campers to
embrace and overcome challenges. The experience is designed to build self-confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills and provide campers with a positive view of their true potential.
This year, thanks to the efforts of the Iqaluit community and the NorthMart and Tim Hortons staff, two young community members from Aqsarniit Middle School will be attending Camp des Voyageurs Tim Horton in Quyon, Québec. The camp, situated on 60 acres of beautiful waterfront has been a source of fun and
adventure for children since it opened in 1994. The two children will spend their time kneeboarding, kayaking, snorkelling, exploring the digital learning centre and participating in many other camp activities.
Thank you to our Iqaluit community members and staff for their support during the inaugural Tim Hortons Camp Day in Iqaluit.
