North West returns to Gilbert Park
June of 2011, 140 North West volunteers helped to build a sustainable fruit and vegetable garden at Gilbert Park Housing Complex. The urban garden project was a part of the United Way Day of Caring campaign in 2010 benefitting The Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg Youth for EcoAction program, which operates out of its Gilbert Park Club. Last Friday, 34 North West volunteers returned.
North West volunteers from all levels and departments returned to Gilbert park to help provide a little spring cleanup. Weeds were pulled, flower beds were raked and new life was planted into this sustainable and educational garden.
Since North West had so much fun building this garden, they are looking forward to building not one by two more gardens in Elwick Village this July.
