St. Thomas Cost-U-Less Celebrates a Month of Giving Back to the Community
The month of August was packed with St. Thomas Cost-U-Less’ commitments to the community from an energetic concert to a much-needed food drive.
1. The Salvation Army Youth ensemble requested the store’s permission to have a mini concert onsite to help raise funds to purchase instruments. The group was lead by Captain Edwin Velez who guided the group as they sang and dance for customers.
2. The store also collaborated with the Department of Health for free AIDS testing for customers and employees. The vehicle was unmarked to protect the people getting the testing. The faces were serious getting in and smiling getting out.
3. Catholic Charities and Cost-U-Less worked together on a Food Drive for the Bethlehem House Shelter, soup kitchen and street outreach program. The food drive has had great success with many customers purchasing additional products for the barrels.
4. To assist the school children Cost-U-Less, in conjunction with Horace Brooks, held a Book Drive to coincide with the beginning of the school year. Volunteers gave away books and other school supplies for the children along with a sample of Capri Sun.
