NorthMart in Cross Lake supports William Osborne's Spiritual Camp
NorthMart Cross Lake is proud and honoured to rekindle its kinship relationship with the William Osborne’s spiritual camp. To date, $1,850 has been donated towards alleviating labour costs and an additional $2,700 in building materials was supplied.
William Osborne established this spiritual camp in 2006. It is a place to hold circle of life teachings and ceremonies. He offers this sanctuary to all members of the community, including elders and visitors, with a focus on offering people at risk a safe environment where they can cope with personal challenges.
Recently, the Department of Justice recognized William's work and has engaged him to assist in youth crime intervention. Further, William is spiritually guiding female at-risk-youth by encouraging them to find fulfillment by connecting them to their spiritual and cultural roots and helping them find positive, alternative ways to deal with challenges in their lives. With NorthMart’s help, the camp has moved from a temporary set of structures to a more semi-permanent facility which can be used year round.
