NWCI receives the Golden Rose from the American Diabetes Association
After a record breaking fundraising year, The North West Company International will receive The Golden Rose, the American Diabetes Association’s highest honour, on March 31st.
With the fantastic support of our AC Value Center and Cost-U-Less customers and staff, NWCI was able to raise over $30,000 for diabetes research and prevention. The ADA appreciates its relationships with ACC is truly grateful for the support. Congratulations ACC and CUL!
The Golden Rose award is presented each year to an individual or group that has excelled in the effort to prevent and cure diabetes, as well as improving the lives of all people with diabetes. The award is named for Dave Rose, the first recipient, for his nationally recognized fundraising efforts on behalf of the ADA while battling the complications of his diabetes.
In Alaska there are 68,500 people who have diabetes, in addition to another 96,000 Alaskans who are “pre-diabetic” and at great risk for developing diabetes. The ADA provides an array of programs and services for Alaskans affected by diabetes. Funds raised have been instrumental in continuing existing programs and developing new services, such as the Family Resource Network and Safe in Schools Program.
