AC Stores Promote Health and Education in Our Communities
While most kids are reaching for cookies and cakes at the grocery stores, some Alaskan children will be grasping for apples and cucumbers thanks to AC Value Center’s Cool Program aimed at training Alaskan grocery shoppers of tomorrow to make healthy food choices.
AC Value Center ‘s Cool Program provides student groups with guided tours of the store so they can better understand where the food that ends up in their tummies comes from. During the tours, students are led through the produce and meat departments where each item has a sticker indicating its country of origin.
This program gives the children a better understanding of the world they live in and the importance of making smart food choices. Alan McCollor stores training specialist says that each year AC Value Center gives approximately 150 tours every year.
