Youth in Tuktoyaktuk will be gaining access to new sporting equipment, thanks to the Healthy Horizons Foundation.

The foundation granted $6,000 to the hamlet to help purchase soccer nets, badminton rackets, rollerblades and more. Having access to this equipment will allow youth to be active while having fun year-round.

“The Recreation Department will be able to purchase the sporting equipment that is needed to enable the youth in our community to enhance their skill levels and to make healthier choices,” said Katrina Cockney, Tuktoyaktuk’s Manager of Community Services. “It will also allow the youth in our community to realize there are other organizations/businesses in our community who share the same vision we do, that youth are our future and we must invest in bettering their lives.”
