The Healthy Horizons Foundation’s Star Icon campaign not only met its lofty fundraising goal for 2018 – it surpassed it by more than 10 per cent.

This year the Foundation set an ambitious target goal of $100,000 for the annual campaign, which ran from November 26 to December 30.

Thanks to the hard work done by all stores, which sold the paper stars to customers to raise funds, the Foundation exceeded its target, raising $112,507 for youth programs promoting nutrition, education, and active living.

“It’s definitely heartwarming to know that we have touched the lives of so many children in the community, and to know that the money raised will one day enrich their lives makes me feel fulfilled,” said Kugluktuk store manager David Ho. “After all, the children are the future of our communities, and if we can set a strong foundation today with our youth, the communities we serve will be stronger tomorrow.”
