A life was saved in Radisson, QC thanks to the preparedness of the Northern Store.

Around 4pm on Sunday, April 28, Ghislain St-Laurent, the spouse of store employee Annie Roy, went into cardiac arrest just next door to the store. Local Francois Charrette jumped into action and performed CPR until the defibrillator from the Northern store could be retrieved. St-Laurent was rushed to the Radisson Health Centre and then transferred by air to the nearest hospital. He is now on his way to a full recovery.

“It is with certainty that I can say that it is thanks to our defibrillator that he can continue his life,” said Annie Labonté, Northern Store Manager. “Time is the essential element in these events and a delay could be the difference between life and death.”

The events on April 28 show just how important it is for businesses to own safety equipment like a defibrillator. The North West Company is proud to own such equipment, and encourages all businesses to do the same, because you never know when it could save a life.

“All businesses should have this tool for their employees and their customers, or in this case the entire population. An employer concerned with the welfare and safety of these employees makes this purchase,” Labonté said.
