Nearly 2,500 children throughout Nunavut are participating in the Recreation and Parks Association of Nunavut's (RPAN) Get Happy Summer Day Camps this year, thanks to support from The North West Company.

North West partnered with RPAN so that almost 90 young leaders could participate in a week of training to gain the skills needed to host the camps for kids aged 5-12 in their home communities across Nunavut. The training included team building activities, first aid certification, Rookie League training leadership identification, and development and program planning. These young leaders can now use the skills they have gained to help impact children in their own communities.

Not only has this partnership helped children across Nunavut enjoy camp, but it has provided community members with the skills they need to provide continuous support in their community.

"There are amazing young leaders in our communities," commented Dawn Currie, RPAN Executive Director. "We owe it to them and to the people in Nunavut to provide leadership and skills so that they are able to make a difference in their communities."

North West's support included financial assistance that helped provide craft supplies, equipment, t-shirts, and snack gift cards for the children.
