The North West Company renewed its commitment to Winnipeg's Indigenous Accord this June by committing to improving the Journey of Reconciliation. North West's commitment highlights four self-identified goals that we report on annually.

These 4 goals include:

  • generating business development opportunities for Indigenous peoples,
  • working to preserve Indigenous languages,
  • improving employment opportunities for Indigenous peoples, and
  • jointly advocating with Indigenous communities on social and economic issues.

North West has contributed to the accord by supporting 51 ventures with community-based Indigenous entities, preserving Indigenous languages through store shelf signage in 30 different Indigenous languages and dialects, launching a community training program, and supporting healthy living initiatives for Northern youth through our Healthy Horizons Foundation, which has raised $1 million since its creation in 2015.
