School students in Arviat, NU, will be able to start their day with a healthy meal, thanks to a Greener Tomorrow grant. Northern Store Assistant Manager Charles Schaubroeck  presented a donation of $10,000 to Levi Ahmak Elementary School at the end of May, to help fund a school-wide breakfast program for the students.

The funds will primarily be used to purchase the required ingredients for the meals. The school staff will work together to carry out the program and prepare the meals fresh each morning for the students throughout the year. The school will be supported by their Northern store for all the necessities.

“We are extremely excited to continue to support the Elementary school breakfast program. This program is great and is welcomed in the community,” said Arviat Northern Store Manager Darren Price. Levi Ahmak Elementary School Principal Tony Phinney was also extremely pleased with the donation and the opportunity to serve nutritious and delicious meals to the students.

The school staff and the students are well-acquainted with the Greener Tomorrow program, with the initiative now taking place for the fifth consecutive year. The school looks forward to participating as well as contributing to the program every year.
