The Northern Store in God’s Lake Narrows, MB has been providing support and relief to customers and community members affected by COVID-19 – and for those who could be affected in the future.

In April, a local Community Pandemic Planning group, tasked with organizing protective measures to ensure community member remains safe, came up with a plan to develop a quarantine site, should the virus be introduced to the community.

The group felt this was necessary as multiple households in the community are multi-generational, and would find it difficult to self-isolate if necessary.

So, when Chief Andrews asked if The North West Company could help support these quarantine sites, Champagne and his Northern staff were more than willing to pitch in – donating 100 towels for the welfare of those affected by the ongoing pandemic.

“Our community and our customers are very important to us, and we must support each other. This donation is to let the community know that we stand by them in times of need, and appreciate the efforts and precautions each member of the community is undertaking to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Northern Store Manager Chris Champagne.

The community has adapted to the new lifestyle in a post-COVID-19 world. God’s Lake residents have embraced physical distancing and reduced unnecessary travel, while also adopting hand sanitizers and regular hand-washing habits.
