A season of festivities in Kasabonika

Kasabonika’s residents enjoyed a day of fun activities, games and prizes.

The Annual Festival in Kasabonika, ON, brought an atmosphere of joy and happiness to the community.

The festival brings the community together before the fall hunting season each year. Today, residents from other communities visit Kasabonika to join in on the fun.

Games at this year’s festival, held August 17 to 26, included a blueberry-whip eating contest, candy-toss, dice games, and a banana-eating contest. The festival also included a spectacular great prizes and a fireworks show that impressed spectators.

The Northern store staff were recognized for their efforts and contributions, playing an active role in planning and organizing the celebrations, hosting many of the games and supplying the fireworks for the show. The store also offered juices, water, tea, and hot chocolate to attendees, and donated a 65” television, an iPod, smart phones, tablets and $500 in Northern gift cards for prize winners.

The festival was a massive success, drawing compliments from many of the community’s residents. Though initially planned only for a week, the positive reaction of participants, resulted in the festival being extended for a further four days!

"The festival was great! I loved the daily bingo with two grand prizes of $110,000 and $80,000. Money raised from the bingo games and lottery sales was used to fund the festival, programming, prizes and games. It was truly an event for the community, by the community," shared Sheheryar Khan, Kasabonika Northern Store Manager.
