A unique adaptation of IDL will air Dec. 21-25 on all APTN channels.

Viewers are being invited to illuminate the night with a unique adaptation of APTN Indigenous Day Live (IDL).

We’ve all had to adapt to new realities, and APTN’s biggest annual celebration, APTN Indigenous Day Live, is no exception. This year’s production has been adapted to feature established and emerging Indigenous artists in a new and creative way.

IDL is the nation’s largest annual event in recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day, bringing Canadians together through cultural activities and live music in celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ unparalleled contributions to Canada.

This year, programming is back again, in a never-before-seen format to mark the winter solstice, a time of reflection, introspection and hope. This year, viewers will be able to tune in from the comfort and safety of their own homes: to maintain the safety and well-being of the community, APTN recorded exciting talent in the fall of 2020, which will be broadcasted on all APTN channels from December 21-25 for the very first APTN Indigenous Day Live Winter Solstice celebration.

The North West Company Inc. is happy to be providing support for this year’s event to help ensure that even during the uncertain times we live in, Indigenous artists have the platform to share their work with the world and to bring joy to each household during this holiday season.

“We would like to acknowledge the continued support from our partners and their shared commitment towards reconciliation,” said Monika Ille, CEO of APTN. “Our generous partners, such as The North West Company, enable APTN to continue uplifting artists during a time when our community needs it most. These artists are writing our collective story in real time.”

APTN has served Indigenous Peoples in Canada as well as Canadian audiences, for over two decades as the world’s first national Indigenous broadcaster. For more information and the complete IDL Winter Solstice roster, please visit indigenousdaylive.ca
