Community at Heart: Behind Tulita’s Elder’s Bingo

Oct. 22, 2025

For senior community members in Tulita, Northwest Territories, the Elder’s Bingo has become a cherished local gathering filled with laughter, connection, and celebration.

Chance Ryder, Northern Store Manager in Tulita, collaborates with event organizer Rena Chapple, a proud community member and certified Community Health Representative, to create meaningful ways to honour and care for senior residents.

Bingo winners receive grocery hampers from the Northern store, filled with everyday essentials such as milk, eggs, and canned goods—thoughtful tokens of appreciation that reflect care and community spirit.

“Elder’s Bingo is more than a game. It’s about bringing community together and showing our care for our elderly customers,” said Store Manager Ryder.

Beyond the excitement of winning a hamper, the event continues to grow as a much-anticipated gathering at the local recreational arena. Chance and Rena are already planning another Elder’s Bingo in November, exploring more ways to reach and engage even more senior residents.

At North West, we are proud of our store teams who play a pivotal role in community-led initiatives, guided by our vision to bring to communities products and services that help people live better.
