Led by Grocery Manager Ansal Ameer, the store donated boxes of frozen foods, canned goods, and other non-perishable household supplies to help alleviate food insecurity and ease financial strain faced by individuals and families experiencing low income, illnesses, or unemployment. Recognizing the ongoing need, the grocery team worked together to coordinate a second donation the following week to help replenish supplies available through the band office.

“I have been running out of items to stock the pantry, and I am certain that our clients will greatly appreciate these contributions,” shared Income Assistance Administrator Sherri Lynn Anaka in a thank-you note acknowledging the donations. “Your support helps a lot in our community.”

The North West Company is proud to support York Factory First Nation in our aligned efforts to help address the food insecurity among community households facing significant challenges in meeting basic needs.
