Recently, our Alaska Commercial team in Pilot Station supported a student-led “Cake Walk” fundraiser, held in conjunction with the Coastal Regional Basketball Tournament hosted at the local school.

The community looks forward to the tournament every year, which brings together local residents along with members of neighbouring villages.

Store Manager and Chef Brent Thompson attended the event and guided youth through a hands-on baking class, teaching them new skills including cake decoration and baking from scratch, while using ingredients donated by the AC store. The event raised over $300 in support of the school’s basketball teams through the cakes purchased by community members.

"It was amazing being able to share baking skills with the students,” said Store Manager Thompson. “I'm proud to have helped them learn something new and connect with community members." 

AC Pilot Station looks forward to continuing its support for local initiatives that bring community together and provide meaningful learning opportunities for youth.
