The Northern store in Wabasca, Alberta proudly supported the Indigenous Youth Mentorship Program (IYMP) at Mistassiniy School in their recent initiative to enhance hospital spaces for families and patients accessing the palliative care unit.

This student-led project focuses on improving comfort, dignity, and well-being for older adults in care and their visiting family members. With support from the Northern store and other local partners, the school team gathered in-kind donations, including kitchen appliances, blankets, chairs, and board games to enrich the shared family room at the hospital.

The store was pleased to contribute to these improvements, helping create a more welcoming space where families spend quality time together.

“A school staff member noticed there weren’t enough activities available for families at the care unit,” said Store Manager Robert Mckinley. “When the IYMP team reached out, we were glad to help make the space more comforting for all.”

At North West, we are proud to support impactful initiatives through community partnerships that improve the well-being of the communities we serve.
