This year, The North West Company proudly supported two young Invualuit mushers from the Hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, helping them participate in traditional dog sledding races through a contribution to Jacobson Racing Kennels.
Dog sledding remains a significant part of Inuit culture and history. For Mitchel Jacobson and Jemra Gruben, participating in races is a way of preserving these traditional ways of living. Through their continued participation in races across Canada and internationally, they also help inspire the next generation.

With support from North West and other community partners, the team participated in the Open North American Championship race in Alaska earlier this year, sharing their cultural pride with a broader audience. They are also preparing for the upcoming spring carnival races held across the Beaufort Delta.
At North West, we are proud to support cultural pride, honour traditions, and strengthen the communities we serve.
