From July 14 to 21, NorthMart Pimicikamak proudly supported the 23rd Annual Family Camp Out, organized by the Incorporated Community of Cross Lake (ICCL). Held at the Sand Bay recreation and beach area, the gathering brought together Elders, families, and youth for a week of outdoor summer activities.

Participants camped by the beach and took part in a variety of week-long activities including beach volleyball tournaments, gospel jamborees, programming for Elders and children, and a firework show. More than 100 tents were pitched at the campsite.
NorthMart contributed $2,000 in support of the event, alongside contributions from other community partners and local social service organizations, making the event possible.

“Last year, the camp out was cancelled due to wildfires,” said Store Manager Aswin Anikuttan. “We’re glad to see community members back outside creating lasting memories with their families before summer ends.”
“Events like these are important opportunities for residents to spend time with one another in the safety, beauty, and comfort of the land, while also helping youth stay connected to their roots”, said Community Administrative Officer Darlene Beck.
NorthMart looks forward to continuing its support of community-led initiatives that strengthen their community connections, well-being, and sense of belonging.
