The Northern store in Norway House, MB, proudly supported the annual Treaty and York Boat Days summer celebration hosted by Norway House Cree Nation, contributing $40,000 in donations to support the gathering and festivities during the first week of August.

The week-long gathering welcomed families, Elders, youth, visitors, and community leaders to honour the history and legacy of the Norway House Trading Post and York Boat through feasts, prayers, and songs. Activities also included celebration of Cree culture, jigging competitions, youth talent shows, and the highly anticipated York Boat races featuring teams from across Manitoba.

To support the annual celebrations, the store donated $12,000 in food supplies and household essentials, distributed through 600 hampers for Elders in the community, along with a $28,000 cash contribution towards event activities and programming.
Northy from the Healthy Horizons Foundation, The North West Company’s charitable arm, also joined the festivities, greeting community members and taking part in the Jordan’s Principle parade.
“Our team is grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting Treaty and York Boat Days each year,” shared Northern Rossville Store Manager, Jason Winter. “It's always special to see community members come together, and seeing the excitement and pride, especially among the youth, makes the celebration even more meaningful.”
