From Jul 28 to 31, the Northern store in Moose Factory, ON, proudly supported the Moose Cree First Nation’s annual Gathering of Our People (GOOP), a community celebrating of Cree culture, traditions, and teachings. This year, the store supported the gathering through $2,000 worth of food donations and a $10,000 contribution to the Moose Factory Aboriginal Head Start program, supporting their food scramble event.

The summer gathering brought together residents and returning community members for cultural discussions, community feasts, and performances by local artists. The celebrations provided a meaningful opportunity for Elders, youth, and families to share Cree teachings and heritage, passing on traditional knowledge and significance of land-based ways of life.

The Aboriginal Head Start program providing support programs for youth and families in the community hosted various activities during the gathering including kids shows, traditional recipe sharing, and recreational activities, supported by Northern.
