With the help of local student volunteers, the team prepared the store’s outdoor space for a BBQ fundraiser, raising more than $400 for the Healthy Horizons Foundation (HHF). HHF is The North West Company’s charitable arm, focused on supporting youth programming in northern communities through grants and after-school clubs.

The store also partnered with local residents to host  games and activities for both youth and Elders. Weenusk First Nation sponsored $1,500 in gift cards for Elders who participated in the luncheon and the friendly competitions that followed.

“We were happy to see customers and community members participate in the activities,” shared Store Manager Greg Letondre. “They were excited about the sale, and the little kids were thrilled with the games at the church grounds.”

“As a teacher, I want to thank you for giving our high school students such a great opportunity to get their volunteer hours,” shared a local resident in a thank-you letter to the team. “It was also deeply heartwarming to see our elders sitting together and enjoying each other’s company, which is something they don't get to do often enough.”
