A “Worthwhile Project” in Cross Lake

The North West Company’s Indigenous Language program for shoppers, rolled out last October, is believed to be the first offered by a major Canadian retailer.

Check out this video which captures the response of Garrison Settee, the Vice Principal of Mikisew Middle School in Cross Lake, MB.

The program is aimed at communicating in the language actively used in the community to enhance the customer’s shopping experience, as well as promote the use and learning of the language.

QR code enabled shelf labels will help support education by providing the translation in audio formats – helping people to hear the proper pronunciation.
