Rural communities across Canada will soon have the chance to meet 52 bright new leaders who have completed the management training program from The North West Company's new Training Centre.

Since its opening on March 4, 2019, the Training Centre has taught 64 trainees the skills they need to help provide an excellent shopping experience for our customers. So far, 4 Managers in Training and 18 Department Managers in Training have graduated. Having completed their in-store training component, these managers are working throughout the North to help better serve Northern and NorthMart shoppers.

"I'm so excited to be here," said Michelle, a Manager in Training who is completing her training at the Northern store in Ulukhaktok, NT. "You can see how much this company invests in their people."

The North West Company Training Centre is an 11,000 square foot facility located in Winnipeg, MB, featuring a 20-seat classroom, Store and Department Manager offices, break out rooms and a mock store, which has operating cash lanes, a post office, ATM, and much more to simulate a real store. The training centre is designed to help increase opportunities within the communities we serve. It provides managers and community members with a solid foundation of cultural, leadership, and communication skills tailored to serve our customers.

"At the training centre, we are seeing the transformation of people from the first day of arrival," said Abraham Simon, Director of the Training Centre. "The trainers and I are energized by the enthusiasm and the diverse experience trainees bring to the centre."

North West is thrilled with the success of the Training Centre, and is proud to employ 100% of past graduates.
