The Alaska Commercial Company (ACC) is proud to be the only Major Partner of the 2020 Kuskokwim 300 (K300) race – the premiere mid-distance dog sled race in the world.

Since starting in 1980, the K300 race has paid homage to the lost lone form of transportation by dog team that Alaskans used in the past. The race’s trail is a 300-mile round trip from Bethel to Aniak, travelling across the magnificent Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. While this annual event is a local favourite, it also attracts people come from all over– including from out of state and from Canada – to participate or simply watch.

ACC Bethel Store Manager Seth Mandole shared that for more than two decades, ACC Bethel has been actively supporting the K300 by allowing the organizers to use the store space for fundraising purposes. This year, ACC Bethel also donated a $1,000 gift card to the first musher to arrive at the halfway point in Aniak.

This framed picture of race and gift card winner Pete Kaiser was presented to Seth Mandole, ACC Bethel Store Manager, as a token of gratitude.

“I’ve been working here in the Bethel store since December 2001 and we donated space to the K-300 dog race organization to operate their fundraising pull-tab,” says Mandole. “I personally indulge myself in community involvements as well as initiate or find ways to give back to our community. It is great to get to know our customers personally as well, since this is one way we can receive their feedback, better understand their needs, and provide them with better services.”

ACC Bethel was happy to promote the K300 dog sled race and hopes that the store’s contributions will lead the way for a stronger partnership between ACC and the community of Kuskokwim in the future.
