Residents of Taloyoak, NU, will soon be able to learn more about the Inuit culture in an entertaining and informative way, thanks to the Greener Tomorrow initiative.

The Greener Tomorrow grant, worth $6117, was donated to the Hamlet’s local radio station to fund a new cultural program for listeners.

The program aims to help the youth and other community members learn more about the Inuit culture and will be broadcasted during the fall on Sundays.

The program will have a cheerful radio announcer, member Rita Jayko, a former Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) producer, and will include discussions, talks, and lessons from the community’s respected Elders and several other forms of cultural programming.

“Culture and language play an important role in the Inuit identity. This program will help bring Inuit values to the forefront, and help us learn as well as educate ourselves about their importance,” said Taloyoak Northern Store Manager, Johnson Jabagun.

The Mayor and the Hamlet were also extremely pleased to receive this significant contribution and look forward to the positive impact this program will have on the residents.
