The community of Cross Lake, MB, showed up in large numbers to support the event and the movement.

The community of Cross Lake, MB, recently came together to show support for diversity and inclusion, celebrating its 2nd annual Pride Day.

The event on August 10, 2020 demonstrated the respect and understanding that the community has towards its LGBTQ+ members.

It was a day to not only celebrate these members but also create awareness about the need to stand up for their rights. The event was attended by many community residents including Elders, Band Councillors and community leaders.

A parade was held, and numerous people decorated their cars and trucks and drove throughout town to offer support and show compassion.

The Northern store was more than happy to assist in the organization of the event. Cross Lake Northern Store Manager Richard Thomas and his staff donated snacks for the children as well as water for the lemonade stand.

“Wow! I attended my first Pride Parade for Cross Lake and was happy to have participated in the parade. This year’s event was very well organized. I also met people from our neighboring community who travelled to show their support! I’m looking forward to this annual event and how we as a store team are there to support and break the discrimination cycle,” said Cindy Halcrow, the Northern store’s GM Department Manager.

The event was a tremendous success with more attendees this year than last year, and helped give more support to this important movement.
