The northwest community of Portage La Loche is a small village in the province of Saskatchewan. The community falls within the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District and is bordered by the Dene First Nation reserve of the Clearwater River Dene Nation. With a population of 2,827 (as per 2016 Census), the main language spoken in Portage La Loche is Dene, a very special and treasured language.
