Cross Lake residents enjoyed fun and games at the summer festival, including a bouncing ball race

Community members in Cross Lake, MB, celebrated its annual Treaty and Indian Days by coming together for an entire week full of traditional and modern activities.

The festival, held July 27 to August 2, garnered immense interest through a diverse array of activities, games, competitions and prizes.

Kicking off the festival, a monster bingo was held with a grand prize of a boat and motor, generously donated by the Cross Lake NorthMart store. Every day of the festival featured exciting activities and competitions, including foot races, baseball tournaments, canoe races, dance competitions, talent shows and scavenger hunts.

The week was not only limited to physical activities though – the festival also held various food-related competitions such as tea boiling, bannock making and bean eating.

“Events like this bring a community together and at this point in time, that is very much needed,” said Cross Lake NorthMart Assistant Store Manager, Tyler Kolomaya.
