Empowering Local and Indigenous Partners: Pin Me Pretty

Jan. 16, 2026

At The North West Company, we believe supporting local business ventures is a meaningful way to foster creativity, innovation, and community well-being. Last summer, this commitment inspired a seasonal partnership with Pin Me Pretty, a youth-led business launched by local entrepreneur,  Isla Morris.

Based in Cartwright, a small coastal community on the eastern shore of Labrador, Isla launched her custom accessories business rooted in creativity, fun, and community pride. Her colorful designs take the form of souvenir-style magnets, pin-back buttons, keychains, bottle openers, and pocket mirrors, featuring local landscapes and custom themes.

As part of a summer youth venture initiative, our Northern store in Cartwright welcomed Pin Me Pretty’s souvenirs and accessories, helping Isla’s creations gain stronger community support while offering customers locally inspired merchandise. With support from Northern store Manager Jennifer McCrone, the partnership concept was successfully brought to life. Customers responded quickly, with the first 50 units selling within just a week.

From Father’s Day keychains to custom pins supporting dementia patients and social causes, Isla’s entrepreneurial spirit continues to shine. Pin Me Pretty also made a special return to the store during the 2025 holiday season, generating excitement around their Cartwright Christmas ornaments.

Supporting young entrepreneurs as they turn creative ideas into meaningful ventures reflects The North West Company’s ongoing commitment to nurturing local talent, celebrating community pride, and empowering young visionaries in the communities we proudly serve.
